Corrado Moretti.

The world knows the notorious Kevlar Killer, but few have ever seen what lies beneath his armor. The abused child. The neglected teenager. The broken man. He always did whatever he had to do in order to survive.

It's kill or be killed.

Throughout his life, he has been there in the shadows, a witness to everything from beginning to end. Bound by loyalty and honor, there's only one thing he would sacrifice it all for family.

Never get close. Never get attached. It's a lesson that has been brutally pounded into him since childhood, but they're words the DeMarcos make it difficult for him to follow. Through them he finds love and grieves loss, realizing the world isn't quite as black and white as it's made out to be.

Made.

Made A Sempre Novel edition by JM Darhower Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

Ok. So I have mixed emotions about this book. I think that I expected it to have more romance in it maybe? I'm not sure. We she gave us was a string of events that showcased Corrado Alphonse Moretti's life. It was dark. It was bloody and 100% mobster. What did I want more of? Corrado's wife...Cecila DeMarco.

Ms. Darhower, as usual, was very thorough with her character building. Very thorough with her descriptions. I think this book came in at over 500 pages. We get to know Corrado Moretti from the time he was about 7 years old. We see the house he grew up in. The lack of love from his mother. The absence of his father and in those childhood years we see him meet Cecila. This seems to be the one bright spot in his life.

Then Corrado grows up. He comes across Cecila again and they fall in love but this courting was brief. There are a lot of secondary characters in this book that I also came to love. In reality this read more like an autobiography of Corrado's life.

I see the way he became who he was and I sympathized with him. I understand him but to me I wanted to see more romance. More loving of his wife. More attention toward her. She seemed to be an amazing woman but in the end I never knew much about what she wanted. She hinted at it but I felt like I wanted to know more.

Did I like this book? Yes. I guess I just wanted more. More love. More Cecila. More happiness. The dark wasn't bad, the book was good. Would I recommend it to someone else? Absolutely. Just because I wanted more of the other stuff doesn't mean it wasn't a great Crime/Mystery/Thriller type book.

Made A Sempre Novel edition by JM Darhower Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

A must read, Made A Sempre Novel was amazing. Corrado A. Moretti was a superhero of his time. Born and left to die by his own mother while his twin sister cried but his father brought him back to life just in time. He survived death minutes after he was born they said bringing him back might cause damage but Corrado breathed again and he was fine. His child hood however was another story all together. His mother was crazy his sister was evil his father was a made man and often not around. Corrado meet Celia as a young boy they were eleven at the time . Seven years later Corrado was in Chicago and working besides his father he see's Celia again and neither one of them forgot each other. They were married it was true love. I won't go spoiling anymore of this wonder book I well say this, you well not. Be disappointed. Sempre, Sempre Redemption, and Made is an amazing series full of suspense Mafia style, death, love, and birth. Made is a standalone but it's so much better as a full series starting with Sempre. J.M. Darhower is an amazing author. I'm said the series is over and hoping she releases more Mafia books I'm truly obsessed with them at the moment.
Corrado has suffered so much in his life. He suffered on the day he was brought into this world and so much as a young child. The one person that should have loved him didn't.

Celia was his redemption.

This was a story not for the faint of heart. It addressed violence and sexual violence as well. This story is gritty and will have you stuck in place turning the pages waiting for what would come next. The story starts off with Corrado and his dysfunctional family. A family with only one person that Corrado could love me who loved him. Even with that his family is one connected to the mob in every action they take.

Corrado endures a loveless childhood but meets Celia during a brief period in his life and they fall in love. Their connection continues into adulthood as Corrado takes on a role with her father, one that gives him jobs he can't often refuse.

The story shows you the life of Corrado, Celicia, Vincenzo, Maura, Antonio, Vito and Ericka. These are the main characters.

Corrado's live isn't pretty or one you could really agree with as a reader. It's ugly, but you find yourself liking him regardless. It's an emotional roller coaster and a thriller with connecting parts of a puzzle. Eventually, the life they live catches up with them all.

Even with that there are two love stories told that leave you you hoping for nothing but the best.

In the end the life they live ends as expected.

Pros
Well written
Emotional story
You'll connect to the characters
Corrado is a good character dispite his actions
Celia is the backbone
Maura and Vincenzo's story is so sweet
Secondary characters are purposeful

Cons
This is a romance but a dark one, so it's not for those looking for hot sex. It's emotional.
Early review

I started this book when it first came out, and it remains unfinished although I'm close to the end. Let me say that I love Corrado. After reading Sempre, Corrado Moretti became the book husband of my fantasies. I absolutely LOVED him!! I still do. In Sempre, you have this cold hearted killer who is so in love with his wife. How awesome and romantic is that?! So, I looked forward to reading this book, and reading more details about their love story. I couldn't wait for this book to come out.

This book is about 25% romance, 75% mafia. I liked reading his backstory in the beginning. I enjoyed his and Celia's budding relationship and marriage. But their romance wasn't even close to being the focus of the story. Which makes me sad. I will finish the book soon, but I just stopped reading because I was disheartened by the lack of romance in the story. I will say that it is a good book, just not enough romance for me. Maybe there will be more in the last 20% that I have left to read.

Update

Re-read and finished the book 12-9-17

I loved the book. It's amazing how 3 years later I finally get back to this book and I loved it. I was so engaged in the story. I still love Corrado. I was sad at various parts and the ending made me teary. . . And this is a beautiful love story. I saw it with different eyes and I appreciated the entire story.
