Milo is the runt of the baby owls. Or is he? Maybe in size, but certainly not in terms of bravery, ingenuity, and sheer spunk. This is an uplifting story that is sure to lead to some very powerful conversations with young children. The author is also the illustrator and the accompanying illustrations are evocative and lovingly drawn.
Milo speaks to the hero in us all, by just being who we are! It is delightful to read this book to young children. So easy for them to relate to; either as Milo, or as one of his siblings, and they learn about owls too! There are many children's books to choose from but this is one that my kids would return to over and over, and as the adult, I would continue to enjoy it too.
As a teacher and grandparent I love this book for several reasons. The story is engaging. Milo is a charming and believable little owl. The drawings are delightful. It teaches a gentle lesson on authenticity and resilience. It's an entertaining and uplifting book for children and adults alike. A top pick for a school library or teacher's read aloud or animal story section in a classroom library. My class loves this book.
